New Camera Announcements - Issue 38

To watch or not

If like me you are subscribed to a handful of YouTube photography channels, you instantly know when a new camera has been released.

Each channel will have been sent the new camera for them to use and review. They all have to hold off until after the embargo date/time before they can release their videos.

At one time I might watch more than one of these new release videos to get a balance of opinions.

Recently I have looked to see what the price is of the new camera before I even bother to watch any of the videos.

A recent case in point the announcement of the Sony RX1R III, unless you have a spare $5100 €4900 don’t even waste your time watching any videos.

I thought the price was outrageous, without any justification for such a high price. I don’t care if it’s the best thing since ‘sliced bread’ Sony have clearly been using AI for the wrong reasons to design their new products.
